Hard to believe that after so many months of planning and packing that the departure day is here. The picture below is of me checking in at the Minneapolis airport - still smiling because I hadn't found out that my flight to Atlanta was delayed for 2 hours. Luckily I had planned a 5 hour layover in ATL, so everything should be fine. Should be in Rio de Janeiro by Thurs morning.
The past few days at home and on PTO were much more relaxed than I expected. I assumed that I would be completing tons of last minute errands, but all of my advanced planning really minimized the potential craziness. Friday we had a wonderful evening out to Eli's with a neighbor; Saturday was a quiet evening at home with Chris, Sunday was the annual building picnic (where I received many well wishes from so many special neighbors), Monday we went to 112 Eatery with close friends and my final night on Tuesday was again a quiet, easy night at home sharing a couple special bottles of wine. On Tuesday I also had a serious haircut as shown below...the stylist took me serious when I said it needed to last three months.
I've been lucky to have wonderful phone conversations with many close friends and family the past few days and I will cherish those discussions in the upcoming weeks.
It is funny, I thought the next few months would give me new insights about myself and the world, but I've already had several enlightenments and I've not even left Minneapolis. Can't wait to see what's revealed in the next three months.
Just noticed that the Blogger app doesn't include spell check...so apologies in advance for all future posts!
