After over a year and a half of planning and many friends tired of hearing about my trip, the adventure starts in just a week.
My minor, daily freakouts prove how soon I leave. Within the past few days, the freakouts have included misplacing my passport, struggling to find a "reasonably" priced hotel on the Amalfi Coast, final coordination with friends and family meeting me and deciding what to do for the final week of the Europe portion....oh, and finding out about a 24 hour "schedule change" on my flight from Amsterdam to Bangkok which required me to change multiple hotel reservations.
While completing final preparations for the trip, I am also wrapping up my work responsibilities. I've worked on the same project for over three years, so it is bitter-sweet to be leaving so many wonderful colleagues and clients, especially just a few days after my final migration wave. There was a happy hour in Scottsdale yesterday to celebrate my departure, along with two other team members who are leaving (good luck Krystal and Luke!). It was wonderful to spend time with the folks in the picture below and have a chance to say good-bye in person. Hopefully our paths cross again soon!

3 Weeks Away
It is difficult to believe that three weeks from today I will be on a plane heading to South America and starting my 90 day adventure. With each passing day I have at least a moment or two of nervousness - not just anticipation about the trip, but realization of what all I still need to do before departure.
Planning is still underway, but much has been accomplished since my last post:
Planning is still underway, but much has been accomplished since my last post:
- Hotels/lodging have been arranged for all but two nights
- Tours and/or tour guides reserved for several locations
- Accordion file created with all flight and hotel reservations printed; copies of passport and visas; sight-seeing ideas for every location
- Detailed, daily itinerary drafted for the portion of the trip with my wonderful friend Bridget
