I braved the crowds at AAA on Saturday to get my International Drivers Licence. The process was much easier than I expected - no test, no eye check - just sign a few forms and have a picture taken. All set now for any potential driving portions of the trip.
While at AAA, I was drawn to the travel store for more packing ideas. Friends who are in the middle of a year-long around-the-world trip have heavily recommended packing cubes. In 16 years of weekly travel for work, I've never used them. I can easily see how the cubes could be very useful, especially when changing hotels/hostels quite frequently. I couldn't resist a 50% sale and left with various sizes of packing cubes. A travel poncho big enough to also cover my backpack and a RFID protected money belt also made the cut.
